Getting involved with the Life Hurts program at my church, Hosanna! in Lakeville, MN, is one of my proudest achievements. Through this program, I work with at-risk youth in the community who are dealing with tough issues like addiction, parents with addictions, abuse, divorce in the family, death in the family, or self-destructive habits like cutting and eating disorders.
Through every hard time in my life—personally and professionally—my faith is what kept me pressing forward. I'm grateful to my church community for the guidance they shared to help me through some of the roughest patches. Because I've seen what God can do, both in my life and the lives of others, I strive to keep my relationship with God first and foremost in my life.
Another of my passions in the volunteer work that I do is mentoring men who have been released from prison, helping them to develop a support system and engage in a life that's free from the troubles that led them down a dark path.
I'm on the board of Life Rebuilders/Midwest Challenge, and have worked with residents of MN Teen Challenge. I also love the folks at Damascus Way - a halfway house that has a special place in my heart. Recently I have also been participating in Chain Breakers, a group led by Don Weld. His heart for the Lord has led him down an amazing path to helping men lead their best life. It has been really cool to see what they're doing and it's a goal to become a bigger part of that ministry.
In addition, Suzanne and I are trained in the Prepare/Enrich pre-marriage course. We've enjoyed investing in new marriages and working through this amazing course with those about to walk down the aisle. Together we have also completed the Ron Deal Blended Family Training, and have led many Blended & Blessed courses.
